Several fidget spinners were tested for lead content by a CPSC-accredited laboratory. The fidget spinners were analyzed in accordance with CPSC-CH-E1001-8.3 using Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP/MS). The toys that tested for high levels of lead were then re-tested a second time to confirm the results. The results of the second test are included in this report.

Leading Consumer Groups Oppose Sweeping Corporate Immunity During COVID Crisis

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and its members have asked the Senate Majority Leader for sweeping immunity from lawsuits related to their failure to exercise proper care of workers and consumers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Leading consumer groups tell Congress to resist attempts by corporations that want to block our right to hold them accountable in court when they cut corners on COVID-19 safety and make us sick.

Banks rely on consumer indifference when they raise fees. They count on consumers not shopping around. PIRG’s Big Banks, Bigger Fees reports routinely find that small banks and credit unions are not following the big banks’ lead; they still offer many free or low cost accounts.

Making the Grade: An analysis of food safety in school cafeterias

In 2004, Congress passed a law requiring state agencies to ensure cafeterias participating in federally funded school meal programs are inspected regularly. Schools in these programs have to be inspected at least twice a year and the results of the inspections must be made publicly available. States agencies are charged with the duty of monitoring compliance with inspection requirements.
